[edit] Roles

This users guide will help explain the use of the tool from the perspective of all users. Realize that, depending on the privileges assigned to you based on your role during testing, not all features and screens may be accessible to you. For example, look at the difference between Figure 1a and 1b which is the same Home page, but reflect users with different roles. Let me define these groups of actors:

Test Director – This is the administrator of the tool, usually the Test Director or his designated representative. They have all the rights and privileges available for the tool.

Test Controllers – There are usually members of the TEWG who work for the Test Director in creating the test events, and help provide overall test management. Test Controllers have all of the permissions and privileges of the Test Director except for the ability to assign privileges to users.

Data Controller - System Operator – Those individuals designated by their heads of delegation who are assigned the duty of collecting and inputting into the MTMT the results of test events. They are allowed to create iterations, and input findings and observations on those test events they are tracking. For the MTMT there is no difference in rights between the Data Collector and the System Operator. Any reference to Data Collectors in this user’s guide should be interpreted as including System Operators.

Registered - These individuals have gone through the process of creating an account, but have not been assigned one of the above roles. Please inform the the Test Director to update your privileges.

Above you will find the sections of the MTMT User's Manual. The first two sections (Test Execution and Reports) is applicable to all users. The remaining three sections (Test Administration, User Administration, and Export) are for the Test Director and Test Controllers usage.

To open the tool, point your browser to http://www.mip-test.org. This will direct you to the MTMT home page and allow you to login. The screen should look like figure 1a or 1b.

[edit] Login

Besides providing a list of recent changes and links to the Online Users Guide, there is a menu and login on the left hand side of the web page. Enter your username and password to login here. If you don’t have a user name and password, click on ‘Sign-Up’. The sign-up page requires you to enter your personal information and create a password. If you have forgotten your login and/or password, the Test Director can inform you on your login and/or reset your password.

Notice that there are three menu sections on the left side of the screen that are available to all users: Test Execution, Reports, and User Administration. Each will be covered in detail later in this guide.
